What is Chiropractic?
The nervous system controls and coordinates every structure and organ in the body. The brain sits atop the spinal cord, which is an extension of the brain. The spinal cord is encased in bones, which are known as the spinal column. The nerves exit the spinal column and travel to all the muscles and accompanying organs.
Sometimes, because of spinal dysfunction caused by muscular imbalance, trauma, bad posture or other reasons, the bones can get stuck in a position that prevents the forces from being distributed equally throughout the spine. This spinal imbalance affects the way the nerves function throughout the body which can cause pain.
A chiropractor uses their hands to manipulate the spine, removing the spinal fixation and allowing the nerves to function optimally. Chiropractic care treats pain by focusing on elimination of its source.
